"The future remains uncertain, and so it should, for it is the canvas upon which we paint our desires."
except that capital-ism IS just another ism. More cars and more jobs and more diplomas does not automatically equal a better life. I wouldn't be surprised if that inventor saw very little of the share of the wealth from his inventions. Its not inventors, but those who know how to exploit them, that end up making all the money. If we really want to be free, we have to be free of ALL isms, in the sense they teach in the East. Cutesy it may be, but this is just propaganda for one more isolated and unilateral view of the world. Its just more us versus them, which is the last thing we need. Property is just an illusion and a farce anyway - what we "own" ends up owning us. We are stewards, not owners.I just get frustrated that everyone wants to paint a cheery, whitewashed picture of the past and demonize ideas and methods that would serve us just as well (or not) as those we cling to nationalistically. Socialism is no more evil than capitalism. No matter what the ism is, it takes power out of our hands and puts it in someone or something else.
